Playlist #1-October

Pinch, punch, first of the month ;)

October is by far my favourite month- mainly because its my birthday but also because it's officially autumn. I can finally bring out the massive coats, chunky jumpers and fluffy socks without it being socially unacceptable and I love it :)

I have seen so many people doing 'monthly playlists' and I thought it would be a nice extra post to do each month. My music taste is quite (ok very) varied but I hope there'll be something in there you like. This is basically just everything that I've been listening to non-stop recently :)

1. One (how ironic)- Ed Sheeran

Gah I just love Ed Sheeran. I would put the whole X album as the playlist but I thought it would be better to have some variety.

2. Trail of M&Ms- Gareth Pearson

My friend showed me this song recently and I've just been continually playing it non-stop. Gareth Pearson is amazing :) This is my go to feel good song. Literally, you have to listen to it- it's impossible not to smile :)

3. Chandelier- Sia

This is such a good song omg.

4. Mirrors Mind- James Sharp

My friend wrote this song and I just think its really cute and catchy. I literally haven't been able to get it out of my head. Please check out his youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/Semaj977/feed

5. Gives you Hell- The All-American Rejects

I literally only just discovered this band but this is one of my favourite songs of theirs :)

6. Amnesia- 5 Seconds of Summer

I couldn't do a playlist without putting a bit of 5sos in. This is their new single and, although they didn't write it, I still love it and it gives me goose bumps whenever I listen to it.

7. Anaconda- Niki Minaj

I'm sorry… its just really catchy :)

8. All about that bass- Meghan Trainor

// Pastel Hues //

Hi!

So I've finally started to fill up my wardrobe for autumn (I am so excited!) and I thought it might be quite nice to share one of my favourite outfits. Although autumn is normally about deep, rouged colours and thick jumpers (which I have many of) I still like to add a dash of pastel here and there. I paired the knitted pastel top with the Mom jeans to take away some of the 'bulky' masculine look they can give off and the jelly shoes are a must! Another reason I love these shoes is because I don't feel so short!! When it finally starts getting cooler, I would wear them with socks, but at the moment, this outfit is great for the 'in-between' season change where its neither too hot or cold!

Mom Jeans, tampered leg- H&M

Juju 'Babe' Jellies- Juju

Lace Hem crop top, pastel pink- Topshop

2 Months and 200 followers on...

Hi!

So today is a huge landmark for me as, not only have I been blogging for a grand total of 2 months now, but 'Through the Looking Glass' has also reached 200 followers! This is amazing for me as I honestly never imagined this kind of response so quickly!!

I thought it might be quite nice to do a 'What I've learnt since I've started blogging' as when I first became a blogger, I found these types of posts really helpful and interesting.

1. Stop comparing your blog to other people's

This is something I'm still trying not to do, but just remember that you are your own person and your blog should be individual and this is always lovely to see when reflected in someone's blog.

2. Make sure you post regularly

Its amazing what a difference it can make to your hits when you're posting every few days instead of once a fortnight.

3. Put in lots of effort

I know that sometimes it can be difficult to fit blogging in, but the more time and effort you put in, the larger rewards you'll receive.

4. The numbers will come- just be patient

When I first started my blog, I would always be disappointed when I was getting minimal views everyday. However, it was so rewarding to see my audience and views growing daily after a length of time so don't worry- just be patient and put in lots of effort and you'll reap the rewards.

5. Blogger Etiquette

This is something which is just acknowledged in the blogging community- when you enjoy someone's post, share a comment- its surprising how far it can go. Also, it's great to take inspiration from other bloggers, but inspiration and copying are two completely different things- don't do it!

6. Photos are vital!

Not everybody wants to invest in a high-tech camera and that is absolutely fine- however, always include pictures when writing blog posts- this will help to attract your readers attention when looking at them against other people's posts.

Thank you once again for 200 followers- it means so much to me! I hope you have enjoyed this post, please let me know in the comments :)

Clinique Cheek Pops Review

Hi!

So over the past few months I have seen so many bloggers raving about Clinique's new blusher release: Cheek pops. As there'd been so much fuss, I decided to purchase one a few weeks ago.

The shade I bought in question was 'Ginger Pop' as I felt it complemented my fairer skin tone much more than the bolder, more vibrant hues. There are 3 other shades in the collection and, after having a look, it seemed like there would be a shade for everyone and every look.

Ginger Pop has a warm, reddish colour with a pinkish undertone which is great for day to day make-up as it adds a subtle, flushed look to your cheeks. in the packaging it looks like it has a slight shimmer to it, although personally I find it has more of a satin effect. The slight sheen gives off a healthy look on your cheeks. The other shades, Berry Pop, Peach Pop and Plum Pop have a much more vibrant pigmentation, hence why I chose the Ginger pop as it has a much subtler and some what softer effect.

In the packaging, it just looks like an average, powder blusher (minus the gorgeous daisy of course!) However, when you wear it, the blusher feels like a hybrid between cream and powder. Another bonus is that it doesn't look/ feel chalky once you've applied it and, as a result, its so easy to blend!! The blush applies evenly with no patchiness and with one, light stroke you can easily create a natural flush. On the other hand, you can easily play it up if you want to go for a slightly bolder look.

Another amazing plus to this blusher (things keep getting better!) is that it has an amazing lastage. While using it during the summer, I found that it only tended to fade when it was extremely hot.

There is only one negative thing that I can find about this blusher, and that is the fact that the packaging doesn't come with a compact mirror although this can easily be forgiven due to the adorable print and casing. Also, as I previously mentioned, you don't particularly need to re-apply it very often at all so a mirror isn't necessarily.

Overall, this is a great product which I am looking forward to getting the rest of the shades in. Unfortunately its limited edition but this product is definitely worth purchasing!

Tunisian Adventure

Hi!

If you read my last post, you'll know that for the past fortnight I've been on holiday. We went to Tunisia and saw some of the sights so I thought it might be quite nice to do a short photo montage.

Tunisia was such a fascinating place and it was so interesting to witness a completely different culture and way of living.

Back to school- My essentials

Hi!

First of all, sorry for my lack of posts recently- I have been on holiday ( blog post to follow) and didn't have access to a computer. On a better note, it was amazing to see that when I can back from holiday, this blog had reached 100+ followers!! I still can't believe it :)

I know that your Youtube and Bloglovin' feeds are more likely than not already filled up with hundreds of 'Back to school' posts but I decided to throw another into the mix anyway!! As I'm going into my fourth year of senior school (wow, I feel old…) , I've discovered some vital things that you should take with you to help you get through the day.

// You never know when you're going to need a tissue :) //

// My lips get chapped very easily and so I just keep them hydrated by using this throughout the day //

// I use this before lunch and any other time I need it because you don't know who else has touched the banisters…  Mango is my absolute favourite Body Shop scent!! //

// I bought this the other day from Paperchase purely because it's the most adorable thing ever! Pencil cases are so handy as otherwise I'd constantly be rummaging around in my bag for pens //

// Compact mirrors are handy for doing your hair after P.E. and during the day for quick check-ups. I got my mirror from Majorca but you can get them from virtually anywhere! It comes with two mirrors, a magnifying one (which can be a bit scary!) and a normal one. //

// I always need bobby pins to keep my hair intact and hair elastics for PE. I keep them in this cute little tin to save them from getting lost in my bag. //

So, there are some things that I always keep in my bag for school, sorry once again for my lack of posts last fortnight!!

Cambridge Satchel review: 11" Classic satchel

Hi!

So yesterday I went up to London and we visited the Cambridge satchel shop- much to my surprise, I came out with a satchel! This was totally unexpected as, although I've been wanting one for months and have been saving up, I was still a little short but my parents chipped in. As I said before, it was such a lovely surprise and so I thought I would do a quick review of it as I'm so delighted!

The satchel that I got in question was an 11" Classic satchel in yellow. I had been umming and arring for ages about which colour I wanted. Originally I had wanted the colour 'vintage' as I thought it would go with everything. However, when I saw it in the shop I realised that it wouldn't really stand out much and I wanted it to be a stand-out feature of my outfits. In the shop, I also looked at the green and pink ones, although I finally settled for yellow as I thought it was a bit "out there" and was such a lovely shade!

One of the many things I was unsure about was whether the bag would actually be big enough. Despite the fact that I only really want to use it as a day bag for when I go out with friends, I had seen many people saying that they had found the size disappointing, yet I can fit everything I need for a day out in with excess space. The interior area is about the size of a small Elle magazine and the width is about 2 inches.

Although size is not an issue for me, the one annoying thing about this bag is that each time you want to access the inside, you have to use the buckles. There is the option to have magnetic openings but I thought this would be more authentic. However, from past experience, I know that the straps become much less stiff with time and so this isn't  a problem.

You can get embossing on the satchel for £7 per letter however, I didn't go for this option. The Cambridge Satchel company add their own special touch with an embossing on the back of their logo which I think is really cute!

When using the satchel outside, I will always try to be careful as the leather can pick up scratches easily and I'm assuming the dirt will show up more as its a light colour. Also, they inform you that you should try to keep it out of the rain because the dye could run or it could get stained. You can, however, get balms to protect it from scuffs and other things to waterproof the bag.

//
Outfit idea to go with the satchel

Overall, I think this is a great bag for everyday use if you don't need to carry too much around. Although quite pricey, the quality of the bag is obvious and you definitely get what you pay for. They come in an amazing selection of styles and colours for both male and female which is why I think they've been such a hit! You can purchase them from the Cambridge Satchel online store or from one of their shops dotted around the UK.

Thanks for reading,

Emily x

p.s. For the next two weeks I'll be on holiday and won't have access to a computer so I won't be able to post anything
